Personal Statement:

When I first began to study ceramics, I used an electric potter's wheel and tried to emulate the smooth uniformity seen in production pottery. Three events have produced (what I hope is) a change for the better: The acquisition of a (foot-powered) treadle wheel (2000), then my experiences in Japan (2001, 2003), and, finally, a near-fatal bout with viral encephalitis (2005).

My work is hand-made
and I'm proud that it now looks it.
